I’ve got a challenge for you.
Tomorrow, when you step outside your front door, do something that will feel awkward at first. Smile at someone you don’t know. Say hello to the cashier. Compliment a stranger’s shirt or their shoes. And if you’re feeling extra bold do it all day.
Now here’s the catch: people might ignore you. Some will smile back, some won’t. A few may even look at you like you’re crazy. And that’s the point.
Because this little act of love is actually doing two very big things:
1. You’re spreading love without expectation.
Every time you smile, every hello, every small compliment it’s like dropping a pebble into a still pond. You may never see the ripples, but they’re there. You might lift someone’s mood, break their cycle of negative thoughts, or even remind them that people are kind. That tiny interaction could be the highlight of their day.
2. You’re holding up a mirror to yourself.
Notice what happens inside you. Do you get self-conscious? Do you replay what you said, wondering if it was right or wrong? Do you feel rejection if someone doesn’t respond? That discomfort is gold it reveals where you may still be people-pleasing, seeking approval, or fearing judgment.
This is more than just a social experiment. It’s a spiritual practice. You’re training yourself to give love freely, without needing validation in return. And in doing so, you’re rewiring your nervous system to feel safe, confident, and grounded in who you are.
Because here’s the truth: when you spread love, you heal others. But the deeper magic? You heal yourself.
So go ahead. Try it. Smile, greet, compliment. Drop love into the world like pebbles into water and watch the ripples spread outward, and inward.
Spread love everywhere you go.
