It’s becoming more widely understood that how someone treats you says more about them than it does about you. But here’s the deeper truth most people miss: the shame, blame, or guilt others project onto you often isn’t yours it’s theirs.
My father was a pastor but also a narcissist. His words were soaked in judgment: You’re sinful. You’re shameful. You’re not enough. For years, I carried that weight, believing something in me was broken.
Through Trauma Spotting, I’ve peeled back layer after layer of that inherited pain. And recently, I uncovered something that felt like the final layer. That shame? It was his. His projection. His burden.
And that realization is your reminder:
Whenever someone speaks to you with negativity, blame, or criticism—it’s a mirror of their own pain. You were never meant to carry that. You don’t need to fix yourself. The healing comes from releasing the belief that you’re broken.
Pause.
Breathe.
Tap into the presence of the Creator within your body and ask to see yourself through God’s eyes. That’s where your true wholeness begins.
