The original Hebrew word for the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament is Ruach.
And Ruach does not mean something distant, floating, or intellectual.
It means breath, wind, spirit, life force, animating presence.
Ruach does not separate spirit from the body.
It does not bypass sensation.
It moves through you.
If God feels far away, it may not be because you’re disconnected spiritually.
It may be because your body has learned to protect itself.
Unhealed trauma lives in the body.
And trauma distorts signal.
When the nervous system is stuck in survival, the subtle guidance of the Holy Spirit gets drowned out by noise tension, numbness, hypervigilance, dissociation. Not because God stopped speaking, but because the vessel is overloaded.
Ruach itself tells us this.
Resh — first movement
Vav — the connector of heaven and earth
Het — life force
Ach — a sound meant to be felt, not spoken
The Holy Spirit was never meant to be theorized.
It was meant to be embodied.
To commune with God is to become present in the body again.
To feel breath move.
To allow life to animate what has gone numb.
To restore the signal from within.
If you’ve tried praying harder, believing more, or doing “all the right things” and still feel disconnected this may be the missing piece.
Your spirit isn’t broken.
Your body may just be holding unprocessed survival
And that is something that can be healed.

This is not about becoming more spiritual.
It’s about becoming more alive.
