I was out for a run the other day when I stumbled across the most gorgeous little conservatory, complete with a creek trickling by. It was one of those moments where you just stop and soak in beauty.
But as stunning as it was, what I really wanted to share with you isn’t about the conservatory.
It’s about something way more important: the lie that if you’re broken, if your childhood was too messed up, or if life just feels heavier for you than everyone else… that you’re destined to struggle forever.
I used to believe that lie.
The Weight of Trauma
If you’ve never heard of ACE scores (Adverse Childhood Experiences), go look it up there’s even a free survey online. Studies show that the higher your score, the higher your risk for chronic illness, mental health struggles, and emotional battles.
Mine? 8 out of 10.
That’s not something you brag about. That’s the kind of score that statistically sets you up for a lifetime of struggle. And for a long time, I believed it meant I was broken. That “normal life” was for other people.
At my lowest point, I was homeless, living in my boyfriend’s trailer, surviving on white bread and Kool-Aid… while he somehow always had a fresh pack of cigarettes.
That’s when I decided: I’m not living this way.
I Tried Everything… and Still Felt Stuck
I spent decades searching for healing: affirmations, hypnosis, therapy, meditation, astral travel, angel healing you name it, I probably tried it. Some things helped for a moment. Learning psychology and neuroscience gave me huge insights.
But nothing truly shifted me at the deepest level.
Until I discovered trauma healing through the nervous system what I now call trauma spotting.
Your Body Knows How to Heal
Here’s the truth that changed everything for me: God designed your body to heal itself.
When you learn how to sit with the sensations in your body instead of running from them… when you stop trying to force healing and simply allow… the nervous system begins to unwind trauma on its own.
It’s not about effort.
It’s about presence.
And once I started doing that? Life went from survival to miracles.
God’s Plan Is Always Better
Every day now, I wake up and say: I didn’t know it could be this good.
Because here’s the thing God lives inside of you. Your body is His temple. When you clear the trauma, when you let the old patterns fall away, you actually make space to hear Him.
And He is constantly whispering:
Go this way. Stop doing that thing. Trust me here.
His plans?
They’re not on your timeline.
They’ll exceed your expectations.
- And they’ll never look like the strategy you had in mind.
- Jeremiah 29:11 says:
- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
That’s not a verse about some far-off heaven. That’s about right here, right now.
From Trauma to Overflow
I had to let go of the life I built on trauma responses. It felt like pruning. Painful. Scary. Like losing everything.
But what I gained?
A life better than anything I could have dreamed up.
Greater intimacy with God.
Freedom from survival mode.
Joy that overflows.
And it just keeps getting better.
So here’s my invitation to you:
Stop believing you’re broken.
Stop believing you’re stuck.
Stop believing life will always be hard.
Healing is possible. Overflow is possible. And God is waiting to show you just how good life can get when you clear the junk and let Him lead.
✨ Spicy truth: You don’t need to strive your way into healing. You just need to let your nervous system do what God designed it to do. And when you do… get ready. Because your life is about to get way better than you imagined.
